Full disclosure here: this is my experience. I am not a doctor, and I do not intend to give you advice on what to do with your health or fertility issues. I am sharing what I learned in this process, and you decide what to do with this information.
You are newly wed, looking to conceive naturally as soon as possible, and you are in your late thirties. It seems like there is a mountain in front of you to climb and on top of that being newly wed you feel overwhelmed by it all. Let me tell you a little about my journey trying to conceive naturally in my late thirties.
Conceive Naturally After a Miscarriage
I finally got pregnant 11 months after my wedding, but I lost my baby. I was already 38 years old. The clock was ticking louder than a year before, and I started to feel like I needed special help to be able to conceive naturally. I looked everywhere and googled everything. Youtube was my companion in this endevour. I found a lady who gave me consult to start Homeophathic remedies to try to conceive. One of the suggestions was to get rabbit testicles, I realized this was not for me.
I still felt I needed something more conventional and in line with my beliefs; therefore, IVF was out, and Homeopathic tinctures were no longer an option. There is a phrase that resonates with me today more than ever: “I will remember to give thanks for what I once prayed for” that is what I am doing five years and two babies later.
Let me tell you the steps I took to conceive naturally.
1. Search the Internet to find a Napro Technology Doctor in your area.
One of my best friends had mentioned something a long time ago that was engraved in my mind and I remember right at the moment after kneeling down and begging to God “Please help me Lord, I need help but I do not know where to go”. I remember that a dear friend of mine said Napro doctors are there to help when trying to conceive. Well, I googled it and there where various options. I called the first one. The consul was so expensive, around $400.00. The second option was only around $80.00 and I thought why the difference? I asked the questions and made an appointment.
Napro Technology stands for Natural Procreative Technology and doctors who are specialized in Napro Technology treat women naturally using the Creighton Model of FertilityCare System. This brings me to the second step.
2. Learn the Creighton Model of FertilityCare System
My Napro Doctor had a list of teachers so I could learn the Creighton Model to chart my menstrual cycle. I picked one, and she was the best fit for me. She is one of the best teachers I have ever had for this method. My Napro doctor needed me to start charting right away so we re-learned the method (we had previous experience before we got married) by meeting with our teacher online once a week. Here is the link to the Creighton Model website where you can learn more: https://creightonmodel.com/
3. Learn About Toxins
I was fortunate enough to find a doctor who has a program where you can detox your body at a cellular level. My Napro doctor website is https://www.mysticalroseobgyn.com/, and her name is Dr. Theresa Stigen. If you do not have a program like her, you can learn more about toxins and how they affect your fertility. We not only took a series of pills to detox our body, but we also cleaned our environment, from the shampoo we used to the pots and pans we had in our kitchen, from the water we drank and the containers we stored our food, from the toothpaste we used to regulate the radiation from the computers we used at home, to name the main things.
4. Learn about the Fertility Diet
Dr. Stigen included in her program an online education that detailed an explanation of the things to avoid due to how they increase inflammation in the body. Essentially, the fertility diet is a low inflamatory diet. I was already 39 years old when I started this program, so I needed all the help I could get to help my body be in an optimal condition and become fertile ground to conceive.
5. Lab Work and Dutch Tests
This step is crucial, and you need to do it hand in hand with a doctor who knows about natural fertility. Your hormones, egg quality, and menstrual cycle are all like a picture that starts to look more evident when you put it all together. The first four months of this process felt like long years for me because I was still feeling against the clock to conceive. But if you are a younger woman trying to conceive after a miscarriage or several miscarriages, you could also need help with hormone imbalances or any illness in your reproductive system, and sometimes it takes a good amount of time to heal.
6. Do a Semen Analysis
It could be your husband who needs the most help. With a semen analysis fertility doctors can determine if it is the husband who needs to strenghten his semen or any other problems such as mobility or production of it. This part was done for us around the time we were done with the detox.
7. Take Natural Supplements Prescribed
My doctor put all the pieces of the puzzle together and had a consult over the computer to tell us her findings. She gave me and my husband supplements and indicated some specific things to help me, such as the best type of exercise for me to help the levels of cortisol and how to improve my sleeping cycle since it influences in the production of certain hormones and, in the end, the menstrual cycle. God thought about every detail in the engineering of out bodies, that is for sure.
After a month of taking the suplements we got pregnant with my son, I was 40 years old and gave birth when I turned 41. Taking the right supplements after lab work did the trick the second time. Very important to mention is that I also went back to charting, because you cannt have a consult with a Napro doctor without completing at least one cycle on your chart. Your Creighton Model chart is like an X-Ray of your menstrual cycle, and only a doctor trained in Napro Technogy knows how to read it and interpret it for possible issues.
One month after starting the supplements, we conceived again, and I gave birth to a beautiful girl. My second pregnancy started when I was 43, and I gave birth when I had just turned 44 years old. God is good.
I was schedule to have a surgery to check my reproductive system as part of the program with Dr. Stigen. She is the only doctor who has this option in a fertility care plan. At the end I did not need the surgery since I got pregnant. During that surgery she can see if there are any issues and take action over those issues in the best way possible.

In future posts, I hope to give you a little more detail of what the diet and cleaning our environment looked like for us. In my humble opinion children are a gift from God. Do everything as if all depends on us and trust as if it all depends on God (a Saint said that but I do not remember who).
God bless your trying to conceive journey. I hope my story was helpful to you.
